The Didiereaceae are a family of flowering plants. They have thick succulent stems allowing them to survive in very dry conditions, as they carry out a special form of photosynthesis with much higher water use efficiency.The Didiereaceae are found exclusively in Africa with the subfamily Didiereoideae found only in Madagascar, the Didiereoideae form spiny thickets, with the plant having a dry spiky stem that only carries leaves for the wetter times of year.
