Commonly known as the ‘hoop pine’, Araucaria cunninghamii can be found growing across rainforests of Australia and New Guinea. The trees grow tall, reaching up to 60 meters, with a slim trunk. Sharp needle-like leaves emerge from the branches. The bonsai has a much more compact growth habit, and its grey trunk grows contorted.
