Boophone disticha

Commonly known as the century plant, bulbous succulent Boophone disticha produces a neat fan of tightly packed wavy leaves from its papery peeling bulb. The plant has a history of use for its poisonous properties in areas where it is widely distributed. This species is deciduous, with leaves dying back for the winter months and growing back in late spring or summer.

Watering

During S/S water when the soil is 100% dry. Refrain from watering during winter dormancy.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a cactus and succulent fertiliser every two months from April - October.

Repotting

Repot every 2-3 years if roots have outgrown its current pot. Use a well-draining cactus and succulent potting mix, with added draining medium to create a sandy and gritty mix.
