Brunsvigia grandiflora

Endemic to South Africa, this tender bulbous succulent plant produces wavy slender leaves from its chunky unassuming base, which usually has the appearance of peeling papery bark. The plant is deciduous, with leaves dying back for the winter months and growing back in late spring or summer. If you're lucky, Brunsvigia grandiflora will create a spectacular inflorescence and display of many flower umbels during autumn.
