Crassula ovata

This classic succulent is as popular today as it has ever been. The attractive round, glossy, plump leaves of Crassula ovata resemble coins which is where it gets its other name 'The Money Plant' - Luck is believed to come when a penny is placed in the soil. The tips of the leaves turn tinges of red when exposed to lots of sunshine.

Watering

In summer water thoroughly only when 100% of the soil has dried out. During A/W allow soil to dry 100% - water sparingly (every two month). Gradually increase watering in spring - depending on temperature and light exposure.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a succulent fertiliser 4-6 times from April - September.

Repotting

Can stay in the same pot for a number of years. If it outgrows its pot, use a very well draining cacti and succulent compost with an added drainage medium like perlite.

Pot size / height

See available sizes below. Please note that, due to their natural variability, specimens' height may be within 10-20% of the stated height below.

Pot sizes 11, 14 and 16cm are supplied or terracotta pot, other sizes are in plastic nursery pot.
