Cleistocactus strausii var. jujuyensis f. monstruosa
We love a Cleistocactus, and this rather unusual form doesn’t seem to conform to any sort of rules. Asymmetrical stems form columns that twist around, with irregular areoles that become fused along (sort of) horizontal lines. The new growth at the tip tends to form more wooly lines, with scarcely scattered spines. Provide this monstrous form with lots of sun to see a vision of red-orange blooms in the summer.
Watering
Water when soil is 100% dry. Water lightly (if at all) during cold winter months.
Light requirements
Full sun.
Repotting
Repot every 2-3 years, or when roots begin to protrude through the drainage holes. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
Feed
Use a cactus fertiliser monthly between March - November.
Pot size / height
See available sizes below. Please note that, due to their natural variability, specimens' height may be within 10-20% of the stated height below.
Plant is supplied in its plastic nursery pot.
