The dramatic Dracaena draco 'Compact'. The most striking of the ‘Dragon Trees’ is slow growing, producing just a chunky single stem as a juvenile plant but eventually spreading out and branching out. Dense rosettes of long sword-shaped leaves in shades of blue-green with tinges of silver are around 60cm long, while the trees themselves can reach an imposing 7.5 metres in the wild. When mature and multi-branched, Dracaena draco makes for a hypnotising display of contorting stems, although its thick patterned stems are impressive all on their own.
