Euphorbia obesa

Euphorbia obesa is sometimes referred to as the ‘baseball plant’ due to its plump, round shape. This highly solitary succulent is endemic to the Northern Cape region of South Africa, and sadly endangered in the wild due to over-poaching. The tiniest grey-green flowers appear near the tip of the stem during the summer, you have look real close to see them. This chubby little sphere is one of our favourites!

Watering

Water thoroughly and regularly when soil is 100% dry during the spring/summer months. Refrain from watering during the winter months.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March - November.

Repotting

It can stay in the same pot for a number of years as it is such a slow growing plant. If it does ever become too small for the pot it is in, repot into one size up and use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.

Pot size / height

See available sizes below. Please note that, due to their natural variability, specimens' height may be within 10-20% of the stated height below.
