Moringa oleifera

Native to tropical areas of northern India but cultivated around the world for its nutritional uses, Moringa oleifera can be fairly fast-growing and drought tolerant. From slender light brown-green stems dainty green foliage emerges, eventually producing dense but airy canopies.

Moringa oleifera can be deciduous, meaning it may lose leaves in autumn/winter, if temperatures remain consistent they may retain some foliage until spring.

Watering

In Summer water thoroughly when top few layers of soil are dry, keep humidity high. During A/W reduce watering while the plant is dormant. Spring gradually increase watering - depending on temperature and light exposure.

Light requirements

Full sun. Protect from harsh afternoon sun during the summer.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 1-2 times a year.

Repotting

Can remain the same pot for a number of years, only repot when roots begin to protrude from the bottom of the nursery pot. Use a very well-draining cactus potting mix, with a minimum of 50% extra drainage medium (such as pumice, gravel or perlite).

Pot size / height

See available sizes below. Please note that, due to their natural variability, specimens' height may be within 10-20% of the stated height below.
