Pachycereus (Lophocereus) schottii 'Monstruosus'

Pachycereus schottii 'Monstruosus' is a slow-growing and trunkless cactus. They produce ascending stems, which don’t typically grow in a straight line, with smooth, irregular bumps and spineless areoles. Similar to Lophocereus schottii minor, but with much more pronounced and protruding bumps. The form of 'Monstruosus' produces even more prominent bumps than that of Pachycereus schottii f. major.

Watering

Water thoroughly when soil is dry 100% during spring/summer months. Water lightly (if at all) during winter months.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March - November.

Repotting

This species can live in the same pot for several years. When the roots become too large for its pot, repot into a slightly larger pot. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage medium such as perlite, pumice or grit.
