Philodendron mayoi

The rare Philodendron mayoi, native to the rainforests of Brazil, is a real showstopper. Deeply lobed, shiny green leaves grow from burgundy coloured stems. While juvenile leaves are slightly lobed at the leaf margins, they mature into their distinct deep lobes which meet almost at the leaf midrib. This Philodendron loves to climb, so if you provide it with a support it will produce large robust growth.

Watering

In S/S water when 20% of the top soil has dried out. In A/W allow top soil to dry out 50%. To increase humidity during S/S, mist the plant occasionally or sit it on top of a tray of pebbles with water.

Light requirements

Bright, indirect.

Feed

Use a houseplant fertiliser every two months from April - October.

Repotting

Repot every 2-3 years when pot is full. Use a well draining house plant compost with added draining medium like perlite.
