


Stenocereus beneckei
A silvery-white film coats the surface of this Central Mexico native. Thick, columnar stems produce lumpy ribs with almost black spines, while more mature areas lower down the stems fade to a grey-green colour. Its rare, nocturnal blooms are cream or green-brown in colour. This unusual cactus would fit perfectly into the background of an apocalyptic sci-fi scene.
Watering
Water when soil is 100% dry. Water lightly (if at all) during cold winter months.
Light requirements
Full sun.
Feed
If not repotting then you can use a well-balanced cactus feed every month from April - September.
Repotting
Repot this plant every two years to replenish the soil and to allow extra room for the roots to spread out. Use a well-draining and gritty cactus compost.
