Stephania erecta

The unusual species in the Stephania genus are found mostly in eastern and southern Asia and Australia. Stephania erecta grows long vines with pale green dainty leaves, which can grow almost 4 metres in height, emerging from the small rock-like bulb. This bulb is known as a caudex, and it's where the plant stores water and nutrients. As a deciduous  plant it will go dormant and lose its foliage, usually around autumn/winter time, so just make sure to refrain from watering during this time so it can rest and restore ahead of the next growing season.

Watering

In S/S water when 90% of the soil has dried out. During the winter months allow the soil to dry out 100% watering very little every 1-2 months if the plant has leaves. If the plant drops its leaves and enters a dormancy period, hold back on watering until new growth emerges. Do not water on the crown of the caudex.
