Stephania suberosa

Native to South West Thailand, Stephania suberosa grows long vines with soft green leaves, which emerge from its distinct chunky tuber, also known as a caudex. The caudex develops a woody and fissured cork-like surface . Its vines can reach 4 metres long, before dying back for the plant’s dormant period. The plant is deciduous, usually losing its foliage for the winter months, and while dormant refrain from watering. Leaves will begin to grow back in spring.

Watering

In S/S water when 90% of the soil has dried out. During the winter months allow the soil to dry out 100% watering very little every 1-2 months if the plant has leaves. If the plant drops its leaves and enters dormancy, refrain from watering until new growth emerges. Do not water on the crown of the caudex.
