Stetsonia coryne

Endemic to the vast semiarid Chaco region in South America, and the sole species of its genus, Stetsonia coryne forms dense groves along the low mountains and plains in Bolivia and Paraguay, flourishing in a range of different soil types. Pale blue-green stems can reach 10 metres in height, with long dark grey spines which grow in unequal lengths.

Watering

In summer water thoroughly only when 100% of the soil has dried out. A/W allow soil to dry 100% - water sparingly. In spring gradually increase watering - depending on temperature and light exposure.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 2-3 times a year.

Repotting

Repotting once every 2-3 years to replenish soil. Use a cactus compost with a good mix of perlite.
