Strelitzia reginae

Forming clumps of long-stalked leaves in a blue-grey shade, with orange and blue-purple flowers emerging from a beak-like spathe, distinctly resembling a bird. Its spathe also acts as a perching spot for its pollinators, sunbirds. This instantly recognisable bloom is the reason this South African native is known as ‘bird of paradise’. Keep it in a warm and sunny spot, and provide plenty of humidity to keep those blooms appearing annually.

Watering

In S/S water when 30% of the top soil has dried out. In A/W allow top soil to dry out 50%. Mist now and then.
