Tradescantia pallida

Native to the Gulf Coast region of eastern Mexico, trailing Tradescantia pallida grows deep purple slender pointed leaves on a slim and slightly fragile stem. Thin stems can sometimes break easily, but Tradescantia are easy to propagate and broken stems can be pushed back into the soil to root.

Watering

In S/S water when 20% of the top soil has dried out. In A/W allow top soil to dry out 50%.

Light requirements

Bright indirect light with some full sun to keep purple colouring.

Feed

Use a houseplant fertiliser once a month from April - October.

Repotting

Repot in spring when roots are growing through the drainage holes. Use a well draining house plant compost with added draining medium like perlite.
