Yucca elephantipes

Yucca elephantipes, native to Mexico and Central America, has been widely cultivated as an ornamental plant and can grow to a towering 12 metres in the wild. They can grow into a small tree with multiple trunks, producing sparse branches and pointed narrow leaves which emerge in clumps near the top of the stems. Spent leaves of Yucca elephantipes leave behind textured scars along the thick stems. Thick stems are often trimmed to encourage branching out below.

Watering

In S/S water when 30% of the top soil has dried out. In A/W allow top soil to dry out 60%.

Light requirements

Bright, indirect. Can tolerate full sun if gradually acclimatised

Feed

Use a house plant fertiliser every month between April - September.

Repotting

Repot every 2-3 years.
