Native to tropical areas of Madagascar, Tamarindus indica, commonly known astamarind, is monotypic meaning it is the only species within its genus. Cherished for its elegant and delicate feathery foliage, which comes with a slightly dramatic nature, it is more commonly cultivated for its edible fruit.
Watering
In S/S water when 20% of the top soil has dried out. In A/W allow top soil to dry out 50% (or further). This plant is drought tolerant.
Light requirements
Bright, indirect with some direct sun. East or west facing window ideally, or near a South facing window.
Feed
Use a house plant fertiliser every month between April - September.
Repotting
Repot every 2-3 years, or once roots begin to protrude out of the. Use a very well-draining houseplant repotting mix with added horticultural sand.Repot or refresh soil every 2-3 years.
